Madame Viardot's Salon
This Salon captures the scene of 1880s Paris at the home of celebrated singer and composer Pauline Viardot. Her Salon was not only used for casual entertainment but became a forum and stage for the works of established as well as emerging composers. In fact, this vibrant cultural and artistic meeting place is rightfully credited with launching the careers of Camille Saint-Säens, Jules Massenet, Gabriel Fauré and others. Expect to hear music by Gabriel Fauré, Henri Duparc, Frédéric Chopin, Pauline Viardot, Edward Elgar and poetry by Charles Baudelaire.
